Meta Ads or Google Ads: where do I start?

Atualizado em 22 de julho de 2026

Start with the channel where demand for your product already exists. If the customer actively searches for what you sell, Google captures that intent instantly. If nobody searches, but plenty of people would buy upon seeing the offer, Meta creates the desire. An example from the countryside helps: technical assistance is Google, a new housing development is Meta.

When Google goes first

Google Ads serves someone who's already woken up with the problem. The person types "air conditioner repair in Araçatuba" or "tractor parts dealer near me" because they need to solve that right now. This is active demand: the desire to buy already exists, and the ad just needs to show up at the right moment.

Service businesses, urgency or rational purchases usually start better here. Technical assistance, clinics, parts, insurance, accounting. The click tends to be more expensive, but whoever clicked already has their wallet out, which simplifies conversion.

When Meta goes first

Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) works with latent demand: the person wasn't searching for anything, they were scrolling the feed, but the right ad lights up a desire that was dormant. Nobody types "I want to buy a lot in a neighborhood that doesn't exist yet," but thousands of families in the region react to a well-made video of the development, with clear down payment terms and location.

Products of emotional, visual or discovery-driven decisions perform strongly here: real estate, fashion, food, events, courses. Cost per click tends to be lower, but the lead arrives colder and demands a faster service funnel so it doesn't cool off completely.

In practice, in the countryside

In our operation in Birigui and the region, the answer changes by industry. For a developer launching a housing development, Meta carries the lead volume and Google captures whoever searches the development's name after seeing the ad. For a machinery dealer or a technical assistance business, Google is usually the first real investment, because the farmer searches for the part or the malfunction the moment the machine stops. The mistake we see most is choosing a channel by trend or by the owner's personal taste, instead of looking at where the business's customer actually starts their journey. Before deciding, it's worth understanding how much to invest in paid traffic and the minimum budget for each platform, because the right channel with insufficient budget doesn't teach you anything either.

If you're torn between Meta and Google, we'll analyze your case and point out where to start, no strings attached. It's the same reasoning we apply in our paid media management. Just message us on WhatsApp.

Which is better to start with, Instagram or Google Ads?

It depends on whether the customer already searches for what you sell. If they type the problem into Google, start with Google. If they don't know they need the product, but react to a good offer in the feed, start with Meta.

Can I advertise on Meta and Google at the same time?

You can, and many mature operations do, but starting on both at once splits the budget before either channel proves a return. The safer path is to validate one channel first and add the second later.
