Will artificial intelligence replace marketing agencies?

Atualizado em 22 de julho de 2026

It will not replace agencies, but it changes what an agency sells. Artificial intelligence swallows raw execution (piece variations, versions, cuts, drafts) and makes what it doesn't do more valuable: direction, repertoire, strategy and accountability for the result. An agency that only executes loses ground; an agency that thinks gains a tool.

What AI swallows

We speak from experience: we run AI in real production, with our own infrastructure (RTX 4090, ComfyUI, Flux) running day to day in-house, and we created Cinema Impossível, a project with over 92 million views made with these tools. What we see the machine absorbing, in practice:

This is not a threat to the agency's client. It is cost and timeline reduction in the grunt work. We detail the math in Quanto custa produzir conteúdo com IA?.

What remains more valuable

When execution gets cheap, value shifts to what AI doesn't deliver on its own.

  1. Direction. Deciding what to do and what not to do. The machine produces a hundred options; someone needs to know which one serves the brand and the offer.
  2. Repertoire. Recognizing what's already been done, what the region's audience respects, what looks like a generic piece churned out by a robot. Repertoire comes from years of operating, not from a prompt.
  3. Strategy. Connecting marketing to the business: margin, sales cycle, service capacity. No tool sits in the owner's chair to run that math.
  4. Accountability. When the campaign underperforms, someone has to answer, adjust and learn. Tools don't take on commitment.

In practice, in the countryside

In companies across the Northwest of São Paulo state, the question comes from two sides: owners who want to drop the agency and use AI on their own, and owners who fear paying for something the machine would do for free. The honest answer to both is the same: the tool is available to everyone, what changes is who operates it and with what judgment. An in-house team can (and should) also learn to use AI in the process; we wrote about that in Como preparar minha equipe de marketing pra usar IA?. What doesn't get delegated to the machine is the decision about the business.

Is it worth swapping the agency for AI tools?

The tools are available to everyone, including your own team. What changes is who operates them and with what judgment: without direction and repertoire, AI produces generic volume that sustains neither brand nor sales.

What does an agency do that AI does not?

It decides what to do and what to cut, connects marketing to the business's math, and answers for the result when the campaign underperforms. The machine executes; the agency thinks, chooses and takes on commitment.
